                Kirra Hogan completed ceramic and artifact analysis as part of Sudanese Nubian archeological projects                    at the ancient Egyptian fortress of Askut (c. 1850-1100 BC) and Tombos (c. 1450-600 BC).

               Sudanese Nubian archaeological projects at the ancient Egyptian fortress of Askut (c. 1850-1100 BC)                         and colonial settlement and cemetery at Tombos (c. 1450-600 BC) provide a focus for understanding                         cultural entanglements and interaction between ancient Egypt and Nubia and the archaeology and social                 dynamics of small-scale settlements and households in the second and first millennia BC. Ceramic                             analysis is central to both projects, providing critical information for establishing regional and site                             chronologies, tracing cultural identity and interaction, activities in different areas, subsistence, and                           dietary preferences.

               Kirra Hogan’s contributions include: (i) sorting and analysis of ceramics and other artifacts, including                       data entry and statistics; and (ii) archaeological illustration, including drawings of pottery and objects,                     plans and architectural renderings, and site maps, including computer aided renderings and                                         reconstructions.

• Santa Barbara Historical Trust Public Schools and Programs Intern   (2022)

                Kirra Hogan supported program staff in preparation and execution of our school programs, primarily                        grades 3rd-7th. Created Curriculum for the district wide “Where We Are From” program, used in Middle                  Schools. Responsibilities also included assisting with the implementation of events and assisting staff in                  the creation of promotional materials.
